I have had this lesson from Charlie before and when I get in trouble I go back to hitting the ball and trying to take the divot after contact.
Posted @ Monday, September 06, 2010 6:43 PM by David Taylor
Use this video Charlie. It is timeless.

Thanks
Posted @ Monday, September 06, 2010 6:45 PM by Charles Finch
I recognize the material in both segments Charlie but number 1 will help the most people. Good luck Charlie, you've helped many of us already.
Posted @ Monday, September 06, 2010 7:02 PM by Bobby Thompson
Both videos are good but I like number 1 better. The big three to me is the key to hitting the ball solid with good distance.
Posted @ Monday, September 06, 2010 7:04 PM by William Stewart
Ashley and I watched both videos and we both agree with the poster above in that video #1 will help the most people. I am going to send this video to my family and friends and hopefully they will post on here as well.

Charlie,

#1 is my favorite. Your style of

teaching is great. Perfect for me.

Some watchers will think this is too simple to work, but that is its beauty.

Anyone can improve their game by watching this video.
Posted @ Monday, September 06, 2010 7:17 PM by Wynn White
I really liked both videos but for me the three drills (line, circle

& swoosh) would help me the most right now. Once I got to the point where I had a decent swing then the consistency video would be a big help.
Posted @ Monday, September 06, 2010 7:24 PM by Dennis Finch
I like this one best.
Posted @ Monday, September 06, 2010 7:33 PM by Marco
This is for Video # 1. This is basically sound, fundamental stuff. You wonder a little from time to time, so I felt it was somewhat unfocused. Tighten up the length, shorten the message and you will have a better presentation. I would have liked to hear a little more about fine tuning these basics, maybe w/ the promise of another lesson. What I mean by this, for example, is something like weight shift in the downswing. The scoopers I see almost all use a reverse weight shift. It's almost impossible to reverse weight shift and hit a ball w/ the divot ahead of the ball. Scoopers lean away from the shot becasue they instinctively feel that's what they have to do to get the ball airborne. Hope this help. Good luck.
Posted @ Monday, September 06, 2010 7:42 PM by Ken Foley
Video # 1 incorporates more of all the core things you teach. It is fast pace, insightful and confidence-building. Good luck!
Posted @ Monday, September 06, 2010 7:44 PM by Jerry Cole
Charlie, I like both videos. The 1st one would be the one to submit. You are obviously a very good communicator of the golf swing and have great ways to present your ideas. My only thought would be, is it a bit too long? Golf Channel segments are much shorter and quick and to the point. Maybe a little stale for mainline television. I love your drills and ideas.
Posted @ Monday, September 06, 2010 7:45 PM by Mark Smith
yes
Posted @ Monday, September 06, 2010 7:50 PM by Ross Lewis
Charlie, I would choose the first video on "The Big Three." This video highlights the three biggest areas that when put together can help any golfer the most. Your differentiator as an instructor is all in packaging the presentation. Helping a golfer understand the issue, providing an easy to comprehend solution to the issue and then providing drills to help the golfer put the solution into practice.

The second video on Consistency is great but given that you have one shot to differentiate yourself from your competition it falls a little short of the mark.

One last thought. You might want to provide a short intro to this video on the New Rules concept since this a major differentiator from 99% of your competition. A good into of 10 to 20 seconds that explains the New Rules that leads into the :Big Three" would help a lot.

Best of luck on this endeavor. We are all pulling for you!
Posted @ Monday, September 06, 2010 7:52 PM by Bernie Baum
Charlie,

I think the path to good golf is solid contact and all levels of players can get the greatest benefit from this video. My vote is Video #1 and good luck.

This video connects with most golfers, regardless of their level of play. Your demonsrations and points of emphasis can be taken to the course with an expectation of becoming a better golfer. Good luck!

This is it!! I'm a 8.8 but still scoop the ball and try and hit it up when the real deal is I need to hit down!!!! Keep these videos coming and can't wait to make trip to the plantation!!!

I vote for #1. I think it best describes your teaching keys for the academy.
Posted @ Monday, September 06, 2010 9:26 PM by David Rea
Charlie - I reviewed both videos twice to make sure I heard each of the points you wanted to make.

My vote is for video #1.

It repesented a clear message that was easy to follow. You kept on track throughout the presentation. You dedicated equal amount of time for each of the three points of Solid Hits, Direction and Distance. Examples were very clear and easy to follow. I liked how you recognized people get confused when applying many swing techniques. Your three illustrations would help most confused players to get back on track. I also liked your directness in that you stated...."What you need to work on......". This gives the golf student the confidence in you as a knowledgeable and effective instructor. Again, I like your summary and the fact you give students and assignment to work on.

Best to you in your efforts to impress those involved at the Golf Channel with the Golf Instructor Search.

For me Charlie King is all about IMPACT. In all of the thousands of golf instruction video clips posted on the internet (Ytube) Charlie King is the ONLY golf instructor who insists that the enjoyment of playing golf starts with the ability to strike the golf ball (line drill). Video No 1 carries 3 of the most important golf drills known to man but more importantly the video shows Charlie's enthusiasm for us (the poor long suffering amateur) to get better! Go with No 1, its raw but with a great message delivered with passion.
Posted @ Tuesday, September 07, 2010 1:55 AM by Paul Irwin
Charlie - The information in both videos is great. Presentation skills are stronger in video 1. Good Luck Charlie!
Posted @ Tuesday, September 07, 2010 5:56 AM by Karen
Have just watched video 1. Makes a lot of sense. I'm about to do basement drills and then work at it on the range.

What I like most is the simplicity. This is practice I can do.

I am voting for number one Charlie. Number 2 is excellent and is going into my vault for future reference. Number one has all of the keys to good shot making. I had a lesson with you 2 years ago. The #1 item I took away from it was impact instead of scoop. Whenever I have weak contact on a shot, I remind myself what you taught me. My lesson with you was the most valuable swing instruction I have ever had. I look forward to making it back to Reynolds Plantation for another lesson. Good luck with the contest!

Yes,Good Luck Charlie.
Posted @ Tuesday, September 07, 2010 7:14 AM by Dustin Kerr-Taylor
IMO Video 1 is the best. I know that when I finally "got" the importance of impact position my game improved 110%. Everything else - alignment, tempo, etc were easy fixes after that.

I also agree with another poster here - you're point of difference is the new rules. I would give a short intro about that and then go into the importance of solid contact and how to achieve that.

Charlie, good luck with this.I think your approach is far superior to most of what the golf channel is currently showing.

I like #1 the best Charlie but there are things in #2 that I use also, You made it tough for us but if I had to choose its #1.

This one "Sets you apart" from others instruction. When I watched the 2nd one, I kept thinking, yes, I heard/read that before. Video one sets you apart from other instructors, and it works!

Charlie,

Those Big Three instuctions have really helped my game. I can't believe that you are giving it away free. I feel like I need to send you at least a hundred bucks.
Posted @ Tuesday, September 07, 2010 8:45 AM by Gene Lowe
Charlie, I think for a contest, Video #1 is the choice, as that to me really represents your calling card.

I recognise that it can be difficult to get all the points across in a short time frame, and I think you could work a bit on construction of the piece..Tell people what you are going to tell them, tell them, and then tell them what you told them...I thought you got the last two, but the intro was a bit rushed and I didn't get the real feel of where you were going at the start...

Posted @ Tuesday, September 07, 2010 8:49 AM by Mary Hallward
Go with this one. I've used the circle drill before and it really helps.
Posted @ Tuesday, September 07, 2010 9:02 AM by Jim
Great video! I have used all of the concepts in Video 1 and have found them to be very effective. I think that both videos are great but this video will have a wider appeal to golfers of all levels. Thanks for all of the help with my own game, look forward to getting a lesson when I get to Reynolds.

Charlie...my vote is for #1. Your presentation is clear, natural and enthusistic. The message is practical and clear. Best wishes.
Posted @ Tuesday, September 07, 2010 12:03 PM by dave buchanan
#1 is the best. Simple, straight- forward and it works. Not all the blah, blah, blah, "let me tell you how much I know about the golf swing"!!! I think that's what everyone looking for an instructor/lesson is after, "Can YOU help ME get better". Anyone looking to improve can utilize all of the drills and thats what you want "Simplicity". Good luck to you!!!
Posted @ Tuesday, September 07, 2010 12:17 PM by Scott Farmer
#1 has better content and flow. Keep up the great work! ** dw

Use them both. Tie the two videos together. Both speak to key elements and both are important.
Best regards,

Use video #1. Until you can hit solid every time, the other things don't matter.
Good luck.

Posted @ Tuesday, September 07, 2010 1:19 PM by Jim Erlandson
Charlie, I would use video #1,when having to make a choice out of these two. I know most of your video lessons and they have helped me a lot. If you would be looking for optimalisation, my advice would be to shorten your message (like former video's) and keep the pace down. Like the swing itself, your great lessons simply work best when brought to us effordlessly...

GOOD LUCK, Charlie, I will be following you on the net.

Kind regards, Hans

#1 is the one. Great Job.
Posted @ Tuesday, September 07, 2010 3:30 PM by David
My vote goes to #1, since it effectively - and briefly - addresses the very basics of the golf swing and, consequently, the components of building an effective swing which is a lifelong quest for most of us.
Posted @ Tuesday, September 07, 2010 4:07 PM by Jack Gyves
Charlie,

I liked the first video. It was more applicable to the average golfer. Your delivery was down to earth and believable.
Posted @ Tuesday, September 07, 2010 4:16 PM by Mike Strusky
Would go with number 1 video. Good info
Posted @ Tuesday, September 07, 2010 4:19 PM by J.Carl Williamson
I like both Charlie. They both will help me a lot. I have a problem of concentrating on the fundamentals at the range and really strugle on the course. If I follow one or both, will greatly help me. I think you have to make good contact before you will ever enjoy this game. Good Luck

I vote for "Big 3". This is what I learned from you and your staff and it really helped my game; this is what I think at warm up; this is what I go back to when my game goes astray.
Posted @ Tuesday, September 07, 2010 5:11 PM by Jim Thorne
Hi Charlie,
The only comment that I would make on the first video is when you transition to the target drill with the 6 iron, You turn your back to the camera. If you can avoid that it is a great video.
Posted @ Tuesday, September 07, 2010 6:22 PM by Timothy Plumley
Charlie, both video clips are good. I think the material should be combined. Since I can only vote for one of the videos, I vote for the first video. It is more straight forward for the average golfer to understand. Good Luck, Steve
Posted @ Tuesday, September 07, 2010 6:53 PM by Steve
Charlie,
This is the "one." It stays simple, it provides concepts to build on, and it gives guidance on how to build the finished product. Thanks for all you do for the hitters!

Posted @ Wednesday, September 08, 2010 9:06 AM by Gerard A. O'Malley

Boy watching this brought back some memories ... By far the lesson that most connected with me years ago. I would use this one.

Best of Luck!!
Posted @ Wednesday, September 08, 2010 1:43 PM by David J Gray
Both videos are excellent, but the fundamentals outlined in this video made a big difference for me. Your focus on improving one's ball-striking ability as opposed to trying to teach everyone the 'perfect' swing is a unique approach and sets you apart from your peers. Good job.
Posted @ Wednesday, September 08, 2010 1:50 PM by Gary Stewart
#1 is the better instructional video for me. I coached HS sports for 37 years so am familiar with the need to believe in one's self. The instruction in Vid 1 was rendered in language that the recipient could understand - no technical terms. That is the key to all instruction: make the language fit the audience. It worked for me in math, it worked in track, and it works now for me as the recipient. Thanks.
Posted @ Wednesday, September 08, 2010 2:22 PM by Dave Cathers
#1 is the one to use, hitting it solid is the one thing I wish I could do.
Posted @ Wednesday, September 08, 2010 4:07 PM by Bill Helling
Charlie,

Video #1 is the best but could be improved. Working on the three areas you discuss will produce results for most golfers. I would make the focus "effortless distance". Everyone wants more distance and working hard in these three areas will accomplish just that, also consistancy!
Posted @ Wednesday, September 08, 2010 7:06 PM by Tom Doss
Great videos number one is a drill I use to warm up before my round. Thanks for sending me your instructional videos.

This is the video to go with. You break the swing down and make it so simple to understand. I love your videos on golf instruction! Thanks!
Posted @ Wednesday, September 08, 2010 11:23 PM by Steve Stanton
Charlie - I've been playing golf (mostly badly) since 1967. My best round ever was an 84, but I'm usually struggling to break 100. This video was the first one where I REALLY understood what is meant by swing plane - can't wait to try it out. Thanks for all the felpful info you've been providing.

Charlie,

Both videos are great, but I vote for this one. Something I learned from you at school was to check the divot direction, I still check mine, and look at all of the others, most of the others are going to left (out to in) I still have to fight hard for mine to go right (in out), but I know how to fix it.

Good luck and remember "change one golfer at at a time"

The basics, anyone can understand and benefit!!
Posted @ Thursday, September 09, 2010 5:59 PM by Rob Pate
i like the information and concepts in both. the 1st flows better and has more drills to use and less mental/thought aspects. i think drills that help you feel the concepts help the majority of people realize what they need to do. good luck and best wishes!!!!

Posted @ Friday, September 10, 2010 1:12 PM by Tom R

Charlie,

I hope all is well. I was an intern at Reynolds Plantation and got the opportunity to learn a lot from your methods. I reviewed both of your videos and preferred Video #1 for submission to the Golf Channel. I felt it covered 3 basic fundamentals of the golf swing that all amateur golfers can learn from. And I think this is what the Golf Channel is looking for in an instructor as this will be their viewing audience. I also like how you are emphasizing your unique method of teaching by informing these amateur golfers that they don’t have to have a perfect looking swing. I agree as I have always felt golfers want a good looking golf swing but forget about the importance of following your 3 major keys to the success of hitting good golf shots. Good luck to you!

P.S… I will be visiting Reynolds Plantation and seeing some old friends as a pass through Georgia on my way to my new job at Doral Golf Resort & Spa. If I get time, I would love to come see your facility again. Take care!

Posted @ Saturday, September 11, 2010 9:36 PM by Justin Bruns
I think this is the better video for beginners. The second is better for those who have been playing for a while as the drills are harder and would benefit from another set of eyes. If you use this one, I recommend 2 changes. In your lead in, you should say "The big three" are rather than "is". Also I could not pick up the ball on the shots but I did see the tee go off to the right.
Posted @ Sunday, September 12, 2010 4:52 PM by steve weiner
Charlie, I like video 1, "The Big 3". It instills a fuller understanding of how a golf swing works in general and the drills a golfer can use to improve their performance. Good Luck.

Both are great videos. I personally could identify with #2, BUT I think the this one (#1) will apply more to the masses. This is my favorite new website. Hope to see you on the Golf Channel in the future.
Posted @ Wednesday, September 15, 2010 10:13 PM by Reggie
#1 grabs your attention earlier than the #2 video, and it seems more focused on beginner to intermediate golfers. #2 works on things that are critical, but only once you have a solid understanding of the fundamentals of a golf swing.

I liked the video. I have taken 3 lessons from Charlie. For the first time in my life, my game is improving. Charlie's instruction worked for me. I am now excited about playing and most important - improving. For me the video is a refresher of the concepts he taught. Very helpful.

Charlie, I choose #1 because it is basic to a good golf swing and relevant to all skill levels. I also recognize the value in #2 and am grateful that your instruction is improving my game and making golf more fun. Hope to see you on the Golf Channel!
