Hi Charlie, I'm excited about the Pure Impact Project and sent the sign-up website to 17 of my buddies this morning. Everybody loves to hit it pure. Russ

Thanks for the great article in the August issue of Moments! It was very informative. I do have a couple of suggestions/ideas for Academy improvements.

Numerous Reynold's members purchase a series of lessons with various professionals on staff. These lessons are held at the professional's course. This limits us to the driving range shared with golfers warming up before play, sand traps that are not well maintained or actual to course conditions, and crowded putting greens. It would be beneficial if we could utilize the Academy grounds for these lessons. It is very difficult to improve your short game when you have the practice conditions I stated above. I realize you hold clinics dedicated to the short game at the Academy, but some of us want the personalized touch of a one on one with the Pro we feel most comfortable with even if he/she is not teaching at the Academy. Plus, it seems a lot of the short game clinics are held on WGA Tuesdays which limits ladies choices!

I attended 5 weeks of the Member Coaching Program when you offered a year-end deal to see what it was all about and found it too general and not personal toward individual issues for me. Therefore, I chose the private lesson route. However, no matter who you take your lesson with, there is a definite need for on course play instruction! Practicing on a driving range cannot simulate the situations where we really get in trouble with the deep rough, pitching over a sand trap or up to an elevated green out of that rough, dealing with radical uneven lies, and getting out of the powdery or wet sand traps. On course play with a Pro and 3 members would help tremendously!

A second idea is to offer usage of the Academy grounds for members who are enrolled in a series of lessons with a RP Professional not currently teaching at the Academy. This possibly could be a money-making venture! A small fee, say, $5-$8 per practice, or $20 per month for 4 days usage could be charged. Practice could be limited to certain (low usage) days of the week, a certain number of times per member per week/month, and the time could be limited to 2 hours. A reservation with a cancellation penalty of losing a practice play day could be set up. All of these thoughts are just examples to get the ball rolling!

I believe firmly that the majority of golfers at Reynold's Plantation would see an improvement in their short game if we had an actual chipping, pitching, and sand area to utilize like the Academy has to offer.

Please give these thoughts some consideration. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to express my ideas.
