Jay McLuen wins Hooters Winter Series Event

Jay McLuen is a TaylorMade Staff member and a student of mine.  He is a very talented player who made it to the Final Stage of PGA Tour Q-School and has status on the Nationwide Tour.  We have been working diligently this winter on his putting and mindset.  An early payoff to his hard work came Thursday with a win on the Hooters Winter Series at Brunswick Plantation in Myrtle Beach.  I've included the writeup below and a video clip on one of our New Rules mental toughness principles.

Calabash, NC (January 28, 2010)…Jay McLuen (Smarr, GA) carded a final round two under par 70 to win the NGA/Hooters Carolina Winter Series event at Brunswick Plantation Golf Club.

McLuen, 29, posted rounds of 71-69-70 to finish at six under par 210 giving the former College of Charleston golfer a one stroke victory over Brian Bergstol (Mt. Bethel, PA) who finished at five under par 211.

Jay Woodson (Richmond, VA) finished in solo 3rd position at four under par 212 while Chip Deason (Lexington, SC) and Bruce McDonald (Zimbabwe, Africa) finished in a tie for 4th at two under par 214.

McLuen takes home $3,225 for the win while Bergstol receives $1,650 for his solo runner up finish.

Great advice and inspriational thoughts to comtemplate. The basic idea is to believe in yourself. Forget about the negative stuff and focus on the simple and great stuff like, Eyesight, Breathing, still alive, etc.
